In a news report by Eutelsat Group, Eutelsat OneWeb, its connectivity business unit, has signed a multi-million distribution partnership agreement with Rawafed Libya for Telecommunications & Technology (RLTT), for the delivery of high-speed, low latency connectivity across Libya.

The RLTT is broadening its partnership with the Eutelsat Group to encompass a hybrid package incorporating advanced services from Geostationary Orbit (GEO) and Low Earth Orbit (LEO). This groundbreaking agreement will see Eutelsat OneWeb granting exclusive access to its LEO-based connectivity constellation, ensuring comprehensive coverage across Libya starting in early 2024. This multi-million-dollar, multi-year contract solidifies and strengthens the longstanding association between Eutelsat Group and RLTT.

According to Cyril Dujardin, Co-General Manager of Eutelsat OneWeb, “Eutelsat OneWeb was formed to bring together GEO and LEO constellations to meet a growing customer need for integrated satellite connectivity, and the extension of our relationship with RLTT shows we are delivering. We continue to see huge demand for high-speed connectivity as we roll out our LEO services globally, with the wide variety of potential use cases that the increased resilience offers proving highly attractive to customers. In November, Eutelsat OneWeb signed a distribution agreement with  NEC XON to advance LEO Capacity in Africa. The increasing demand for connectivity in the region underscores the significance of such agreements in closing the digital gap across the continent and facilitating widespread high-speed connectivity, irrespective of geographical location.
