Alén Space Launches Support Program for International Scientific and Academic Space Missions

Alén Space has announced the promotion of scientific and academic space missions throughout the world. The small satellite company has subsequently launched its TRISKEL Mission Award initiative, open to international universities and high-tech centres. The mission’s design aims to foster contribution to the advancing academic projects with nanosatellites.
To this end, interested teams working on a CubeSat project can sign up for the programme before March 15. The prize is a TRISKEL solution, developed by the Alén Space team for controlling and managing satellite data. This device combines an onboard computer (OBC) and telemetry, tracking and command (TTC) in a single module. These systems are two of the essential systems of any nanosatellite, and it results from more than 12 years of experience in the development of space missions.
Participants must provide a series of specific data to demonstrate the level of development of their projects and the goals of their missions. Furthermore, the judging committee, composed of Guillermo Lamelas; Diego Nodar, COO at Alén Space; Bibiano Arruti, hardware designer; and Fernando Aguado, member of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), will deliberate on the results for a month starting immediately after the deadline.
The winning team will receive the prize before September 30 once the decision on the winning project has been published.
Who can apply?
- Universities with or without previous experience
- High-tech and research centres
- Non-profit organisations (or other non-commercial structures)
Guillermo Lamelas, CEO of Alen Space, noted, “We know how important it is to have support and help to go far. Today it’s time to return the favour to the scientific community and help some of these projects with our knowledge and technology.”
