Africa’s premier space-focused consulting and media firm, Space in Africa (SiA), invites nominations from the public for the 2020 class of the prestigious African Space Industry Top 10 Under-30 award.

Launched last year in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the historic Apollo 11 Moon mission, the industry award recognizes outstanding young Africans breaking the limits of the Sky and stamping Africa’s footprint in space.

The 2020 exclusive list will feature engineers, scientists, business developers, researchers, policy advocates, and academicians from Africa who have contributed in their little way to not only developing their nation’s space industry but also expanding knowledge in Africa’s evolving space sector.

The 2019 class featured a list of outstanding young professionals with diverse contributions to the continent’s space sector; selected by the editorial team at Space in Africa. The honorees include Louw Ana-Mia, Brittany Bull, Leehandi De-WITT (South Africa), Djamal Darfilal (Algeria), Joseph Quansah, Kingsley A. Duodu (Ghana), Rania Toukebri (Tunisia), Rayan Iman (Sudan) Ruvimbo Samanga (Zimbabwe) and Vivianne Meta (Kenya).

This year, Space in Africa has opened up the call for nomination to the public, making the selection stiff and the vetting process even more rigorous. After a meticulous vetting process, Space in Africa will share a shortlist with a five-judge panel for final selection. The award will be presented at the NewSpace Africa Conference 2020.

If you think you deserve to be one of this year’s honorees or know any young engineer, scientist, researcher, business developer, policy advocate, academician, – or any great person – with an outstanding track record in the African space industry nominate them by filling out the nomination form.

Nomination closes on 21 July 2020.

Eligibility:
A candidate must meet the following criteria:

• Must be a citizen of an African country
• Must be aged 30 or younger by 31 December 2020
• Must be actively engaged in a professional capacity in the African space industry. (Preferably, working or studying in Africa. Africans participating in technology transfer programs and short-term studies abroad with demonstrated ties to an institution in Africa are welcome to apply.)
• Previous awardees are not eligible.
