Spacecom, a leading global fixed-satellite operator and satellite service provider that offers tailored end-to-end communication solutions, yesterday, announced that it is providing Ku-band capacity to the German broadcast services company, PanAccess, for broadcast operations in Nigeria.

According to reports, PanAccess’ growing broadcast bouquet, originating in Germany, consists of dozens of channels and is broadcast free-to-air from Spacecom’s Amos-17 satellite located at the 17°E orbital position over Africa. PanAccess specialises in providing high-end one-way or two–way CAS and DRM security solutions around the globe. It offers a seamless service portfolio for consumers using any device.

Speaking on the deal, Eyal Altshuler, Spacecom Vice-President Sales said with combined efforts from both companies, Spacecom has succeeded in bringing PanAccess’s bouquet onto the air in less than 48 hours after they began designing PanAcess’s solution.

“AMOS-17 is an exciting satellite with its Ku, Ka and HTS C-Band capabilities. The Nigerian market is now experiencing services and communications from the most powerful, technically advanced satellite serving the region. Since the beginning of commercial operations in late 2019, the satellite is already boosting our business around the continent,” he added.

On their part, Roland Schlichting, PanAccess CEO, said they are excited with Spacecom’s response rate, which allowed them to be on-air quickly in the West African country. According to him, PanAccess sees the growth of its broadcast base in Nigeria as a major market and will proceed to add more channels for these customers.

Spacecom is the operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, which comprises four Ka and Ku-band satellites: Amos-3, 7,17, and 4.

According to Spacecom, its AMOS-17, a communication satellite, was successfully launched on August 6, 2019, onboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, and serves to expand and strengthen Spacecom’s coverage of the growing satellite market in Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
