Azam TV Reaches Agreement With Azercosmos For The Provision of DTT Services In Tanzania

Last week, Azerbaijan’s satellite operator, Azercosmos, reached an agreement with Tanzanian digital satellite services provider, Azam TV, for the provision of Digital Terrestrial Transmission (DTT) services in the East African country.
The agreement will have Azercosmos providing DTT services to viewers via its C-band telecommunication satellite, Azerspace-1. Currently, Azercosmos operates Azerspace-1, Azerspace-2 geostationary satellites and low-altitude AzerSky satellite.
Speaking on the agreement, Azercosmos’s Chief Commercial Officer, Mark Guthrie, said the company is pleased to cooperate with the leading digital satellite service provider in East Africa. According to him, the agreement symbolises their desire to deliver highly-reliable satellite services to Tanzanians, in collaboration with their partners.
Commenting on the need for the partnership with Azercosmos, Abubakar Said Salim Bakhresa, the Executive Director of Said Salim Bakhresa and Co Ltd, the parent company of the digital satellite services provider, highlighted the company’s satellite’s position as a factor that informed the decision for the collaboration.
“We are pleased to partner with Azercosmos in our DTT services infrastructure to provide top quality TV broadcast to our viewers. Azerspace-1 was our satellite of choice based on its position and reliability over the East African region”.
He noted that the new partnership with Azercosmos will improve service delivery to the company’s customer base in Tanzania and other East Africa countries, including Kenya, Malawi and Uganda.
