South African Astronomical Observatory To Celebrate 200th Anniversary
The South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2020 with a symposium to showcase Africa’s heritage of Astronomical excellence from the 20th-22nd of October 2020 in Kirstenbosch, South Africa.
The symposium themed ” Beyond 200 years of Astronomy”, is hosted by the South African Astronomical Observatory and aims to attract students, postdocs, researchers, and faculty from around Africa. The confirmed speakers include Prof Petri Vaisanen, SAAO; Dr. Bernard Fanaroff, SARAO; Dr. Rab Adam, SARAO, Dr. Itumeleng Monagang, SAAO, Dr. Rosalind Skelton, SAAO, Dr. Moses Mogotsi, SAAO, Prof Patrick Woudt, UC; Prof Amanda Weltman, UCT; Prof Roy Maartens, UWC; Prof Roger Deane, UP; Prof Jamal Mimouni, AfAS.
The call for paper is an opportunity for emerging astronomical researchers to share their work, and the social programme offers fellowship and networking with colleagues in Astronomy.
