IAF General Assembly Announces IAC 2020 Host Country

After the 24th International Astronautical Congress (IAC), held in Baku in 1973 for the first time in the Soviet Union, the IAF General Assembly has again selected Baku, Azerbaijan, to host the 73rd International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in 2022.

Bringing together over 6,000 representatives of the space industry for the first time in its history, Azerbaijan’s capital in 2022 will make significant contributions to the establishment of closer ties with foreign space agencies, companies and organisations, to the development of human capital.

Following the success of IAC 2019, held in Washington DC, the IAF General Assembly selected its next IAC 2020 to be held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, from 12-16 October 2020. IAC 2021  will be in Paris from the 27th of September to the 1st of October, 2021, while the 2022 conference will be in Baku. The 2022 congress will hold from the 26th -30th of September, under the theme, “Global Challenges and Opportunities: Give a Chance to Space”.

Baku received the right to host the IAC 2022 as a result of successful promotional activities and a professional presentation of the country’s tourism potential and organizational capabilities. Also through special contributions made by many institutions, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Tourism Agency and Azerbaijan Convention Bureau, Heydar Aliyev Center and Baku Congress Center.
