The Management Office of the National Space Program (GGPEN) will organise a free mini-course on Space Applications for Startups on May 17, and 18, between 9 am to 1 pm (GMT+1), during the 13th edition of the ITEL Technological Innovation Fair (FITITEL).

The training is a result of an invitation by the director of the Institute of Telecommunications (ITEL), which aims to show the potential of space applications to small businesses and startups in Angola, specifically regarding the use of satellite images, open data sources tools for geographic information and image processing.

Participants will learn about the steps taken by GGPEN to develop Space Products and Applications, from identifying a need to use space applications, developing case studies, developing applications and services, validating them and making them available on the market.

In addition, presentations during the training will highlight various day-to-day challenges that can be solved using space applications (e.g. monitoring water resources, floods and drought).

For the practical hands-on session, GGPEN will discuss a case study explaining the procedures of downloading an image, making the treatment in Q-GIS (ArcGIS) and extracting the product from the tools. At the end of this mini-course, participants are expected to be more informed about the potential of developing space applications for startups as a business in Angola.
