Geo-Appsmith Set to Launch GIS-Based Inventory Management System
Geo-Appsmith, a Nairobi based GIS and location services Company is working on a GIS-based inventory management system, the team has revealed.
The company was established in 2016 with a mission to create and deploy intuitive and simplified GIS solutions to enable organizations and communities to easily and quickly make informed decisions with spatial data. Geo-Appsmith specializes in mobile and web-GIS technologies to create solutions.
Over the past year, the team has been working on a very ambitious project: Mapping of Installation Sites and Development of a GIS-Based Inventory Management System for
Soulco Kenya – a multinational integrator of IT and telecom products and services.
Soulco is headquartered in Belgium and with local offices in Algeria, Kenya, Egypt,
U.A.E and Pakistan, and operates throughout the Middle East and Africa. With massive installations in hundreds of sites across the 47 counties in Kenya, the Soulco was struggling to keep near-real-time record of what had been installed where, when, and whether that which has been installed was in proper working condition (‘status’) or whether it needed to be replaced.
Geo-AppSmith has created a solution which:
- Allows the company to visualize on a map the working status of all sites and
equipment in near real-time. Everything, from 30m tall communication towers to
special components which are much smaller than an ATM Car; - Enables the company to track (using barcodes) the movement of all these
equipment from store, to dispatch, to installation on-site and to generate to
reports and site profiles at a click-of-a-button, when and as required; - Allows users to report faults thus enabling maintenance engineers to identify
incident locations for a quick and timely response; - Enables the company to plan for maintenance trips and generate reports related
to past and future planned trips.
This attention-grabbing inventory management tool was created to address Soulco’s
specific asset management challenges, but it can easily be customized to fit other user cases in different industries such as agriculture, forestry, mining, retail, transport
and logistics etc. We created from the ground-up a highly scalable and versatile, plug and play software with end-users in mind.
