Countdown to the 7th African Leadership Conference; all you need to know

The African Leadership Conference (ALC) on Space Science and Technology for Sustainable Development is an African Regional Conference organized bi-annually to gather all experts and key players in Space Science and Technology in Africa with the view to promoting intra Africa cooperation in the use of space science and technology to support Africa’s development.

The 7th edition of the ALC conference is scheduled to hold in Abuja, Nigeria from the 5th to 7th November, 2018 at the NICON Luxury Hotel. The event is being hosted by the National Space Research and Development Agency on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The overall Theme of the 2018 Conference is the Implementation of the African Space Policy and Strategy (ASPS) with a Sub-theme of Positioning the African Space Agencies, Institutions, Industries and Academia for the implementation of Africa Space Policy and Strategy.

 

Topic for paper presentations will cover the following thematic areas:
  • The role and requirements of Governments, Academia and Africa private sector in the implementation of the African Space Policy and Strategy (ASPS).
  • The role of existing and planned space initiatives in Africa, for the implementation of ASPS
  • Taking ownership of the African Space Policy and Strategy – the role of Space Agencies, Institutions, Industry and Academia in Africa.
  • Existing Global/Regional/National Space Regulations and their impact on the implementation of the ASPS.
  • Building the African Space Market for accessibility by the African users.
  • The use of Space Industry to grow the African economy.
  • African Space program in the next decade.
  • A review of Mombasa Declaration of 2011.

Thanks to the African Union, some Young Professionals have been given scholarships to attend the conference and would be participating in the ALC Youth Forum session.
