Nilesat’s Cairo Teleport Re-Certified at Tier 4 by WTA

The World Teleport Association has renewed Nilesat’s Cairo Teleport at Tier 4, the highest rating in its Teleport Certification Programme, following a re-certification audit completed on August 3, 2026.

Since its introduction in 2015, the Certification programme has quickly grown in popularity. Launched at IBC 2015 with a single certified facility, the program now covers 80 teleports worldwide, including operators such as Eutelsat, Telstra, Telespazio, Hispasat, Es’hailSat, and Speedcast. The industry has quickly adopted the transparent, independently verified standards as a means for teleports to differentiate themselves and for customers to choose the price-performance level suitable for their applications.

Tier 4 is the top of a four-tier scale. Facilities start with a Provisional certification based on a 170-item self-reported questionnaire, then have six months to earn Full Certification, which requires an independent auditor to verify the data on-site. Full Certification lasts three years before renewal is required.

Nilesat is also developing an on-premises AI support agent, one of the first such efforts among global teleports. It’s currently a management tool, with plans to expand into broader operational and service functions.
