Avanti Communications has announced a new strategic partnership with Türksat, Turkey’s national satellite operator, in a move that significantly expands high-capacity satellite connectivity across Southern Africa. The agreement represents a notable enhancement of Avanti’s service portfolio in the region and aligns with growing demand for reliable, high-throughput GEO satellite services.

Under the partnership, Avanti has secured additional capacity on Türksat 5B, a high-throughput satellite that extends robust coverage over Africa. This agreement builds on the two companies’ existing cooperation, first established in 2019, and underscores their shared commitment to improving access to advanced satellite communications solutions in underserved markets.

Debbie Mavis, Director at Avanti Communications, noted that the expansion reflects accelerating market needs: “Partnering with Türksat enables us to respond effectively to the rising demand for GEO satellite capacity in Southern Africa. Together, we are extending meaningful connectivity to communities and enterprises that have historically been difficult to reach.”

Türksat echoed this view, emphasising the strategic relevance of the Southern African market. “South Africa represents a priority growth region for Türksat,” said Dr Selman Demirel, Vice President for Satellite Operations. “Avanti’s demonstrated footprint and strong understanding of local connectivity requirements make them a natural partner for advancing our presence in the region.”

The partnership comes shortly after Avanti introduced Avanti Everywhere, an expanded portfolio of flexible GEO services designed to meet evolving enterprise and governmental connectivity needs. These offerings were recently showcased at AfricaCom, where Avanti engaged industry stakeholders on strengthening Africa’s digital infrastructure.

Beyond expanding service availability, the Avanti–Türksat collaboration is expected to stimulate deeper inter-operator cooperation across the satellite sector. For South African partners and customers, the agreement provides access to the combined coverage, capacity, and technical capabilities of both operators, supporting enterprise connectivity, national infrastructure priorities, and regional digital transformation objectives.
