NASRDA Partners with Thumbay University Hospital to Launch Telemedicine Programme
The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) has partnered with Thumbay University Hospital in the United Arab Emirates to launch an innovative Telemedicine Programme to transform healthcare access across Nigeria, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
Speaking on the partnership, Dr Matthew Olumide Adepoju, NASRDA’s Director General, emphasised the significance of this initiative in bridging the healthcare gap for Nigerians. “This programme is essential for improving healthcare in remote areas. Our collaboration with Thumbay University Hospital will help us deliver accessible and affordable medical services to all Nigerians,” he stated.
The partnership reflects NASRDA’s dedication to leveraging space technology for practical and impactful applications that directly benefit Nigerians, especially those at the grassroots level. The telemedicine initiative will utilise satellite communication technologies to connect medical professionals with patients in hard-to-reach regions, ensuring that quality healthcare services are accessible regardless of location.
This collaboration marks a new chapter in NASRDA’s ongoing efforts to harness space technology for socio-economic development, with healthcare as a key focus. By combining space infrastructure with medical expertise, NASRDA and Thumbay University Hospital aim to make a lasting impact on Nigeria’s healthcare system, improving patient outcomes and reducing the healthcare divide across the country.
