KSA Hosts Delegates from the British High Commission

Brigadier Hillary Kipkosgey, Acting Director General of the Kenya Space Agency (KSA), hosted Mr Colin Sykes, Counsellor for Science, Innovation, and Technology from the British High Commission Nairobi and a delegation from the Commission. The visit aimed to foster stronger partnerships between the United Kingdom and Kenya through collaborative initiatives on space applications.

During the strategic discussion, Brigadier Kipkosgey expressed optimism and readiness to collaborate with UK agencies on the indicated projects. He also briefly discussed the potential for advancing the nation’s launch capabilities and its ramifications for the agency and the country. He also provided insights into the Kenya Space Agency’s initiatives, including facilitating stakeholder engagement through events like the upcoming Kenya Space Expo and Conference, scheduled for June 18 to 20, 2024, in Nairobi.

Furthermore, Mr Colin Sykes outlined the United Kingdom’s space initiatives and pinpointed potential collaboration areas with UK agencies. These include projects under consideration by the Satellite Application Catapult, Research and Innovation Systems for Africa (RISA), and Business Connect under the Global Alliance for Africa, all of which emphasise science and innovation. In addition, he underscored ongoing projects in Space Science and Astronomy, such as the Development in Africa with Radio Astronomy (DARA) project, which focuses on capacity building in the space science field.
