Client: African Association for Technology and Innovation

Client’s Need

The vision of the African Association for Technology and Innovation (AATI) is to support, through concrete projects, the development of technology and innovations for Africa.  AATI contracted Space in Africa to help develop concepts and strategies for developing Ivory Coast’s first and second satellites and a constellation of satellites involving multiple African countries.

Approach

To support the African Association for Technology and Innovation’s vision to promote technology and innovation development in Africa, Space in Africa guided the conceptualisation and strategy for Ivory Coast’s first two satellite projects and a satellite constellation involving multiple African countries. The approach included scoping and defining project objectives, evaluating technical designs, preparing a comprehensive RFP, devising a fundraising strategy, supervising project implementation, promoting capacity building, ensuring regulatory compliance, fostering stakeholder engagement, implementing risk management measures, and establishing monitoring and evaluation processes.

Result

Our comprehensive approach successfully understood the Client’s needs and designed the parameters for the country’s first two satellites – AkwabaSat-1 and AkwabaSat-2. After conducting a comparative analysis of all bids submitted for the project, we recommended the best CubeSat manufacturer for both projects, as they met all the requirements necessary for the successful implementation of the project. Our meticulous evaluation and expertise ensured that the chosen manufacturer aligned with the project’s objectives, setting the stage for the successful development and launch of AkwabaSat-1 and AkwabaSat-2.
