A delegation team from the Montpellier University Space Center (CSUM) led by the President of CSUM, Laurent Dusseau, were hosted by the Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, Professor Moussa Balde, during a week-long visit to Senegal.
The CSUM will train eight engineers and five technicians to successfully manage and operate the country’s first satellite and collaborate with Polytechnic School of Thiès (Ecole Polytechnique De Thiès), Institute Polytechnic De Saint-Louis (Institute Polytechnic De Saint-Louis), Gaston Berger University (Université Gaston Berger), and the Polytechnic university (Ecole Polytechnique) and other institutions to foster the socioeconomic development of the country.
The Senegalese space centre is expected to be functional soon and will aid in training Senegalese technicians on utilising data from the Sengelese space centre.
According to Professor Balde, this development will advance the President of Senegal, Macky Sall’s ambition for the country’s space programme. Recently, President Macky Sall announced the establishment of the country’s space agency, the Senegalese Space Study Agency, to promote the country’s socioeconomic development and the continuous investigation of the universe.
