On the 11th of April, Lynk Global Inc, the world’s leading satellite-direct-to-standard-phone telecoms company, announced its second contract with Telecel Group in Africa. This contract will enable mobile coverage to 100% of Vodafone Ghana’s subscribers using Lynk’s cell towers in space.

These cell towers in space will aid Telecel Group to extend geographical coverage, mainly through rural coverage, Maritime Economic Zone, which is used as a backup to support service resilience continuity of IoT devices, and as a terrestrial tower replacement for underperforming (economical or technical) towers.  

Commenting on the partnership, the CEO of Lynk, Charles Miller, alluded to the partnership as a milestone and mentioned the position of Lynk as the only patented, proven and commercially licenced company for satellite-direct-to-standard-phone technology anywhere in the world. Furthermore, Patricia Obo-Nai, CEO of Vodafone Ghana, divulged excitement at connectivity opportunities in health, education, and job creation, especially for women and youth.
