Algeria and Italy Sign Space Cooperation Agreement
Italy and Algeria have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate peacefully in outer space exploration. The objective of the MOU is to “Establish a cooperation framework in the field of space exploration, Earth observation, space technologies and training, to implement projects of mutual interest”.
Several signatures were present at the signing ceremony, including the President of the Italian Space Agency (ISA), Giorgio Saccccia and the Director General of the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL). In addition, the Director General was in the presence of the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni and the President of the Algerian Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
The MoU will remain valid for five years and will be a bilateral collaboration between Algeria and Italy on projects of common interest through exchanging knowledge in space science and technology. Furthermore, both parties would engage in joint seminars and workshops, infrastructural project development, implementation of training programmes, and conducting research projects.
