At the Kenya Embassy in Washington DC, the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Hon Musalia Mudavadi, met and held discussions with Alvin Alexander, CEO of Orion Applied Science & Technology, a U.S. technology and service-based company that provides engineering solutions including near-Earth space operations and satellite launch capability development. The meeting between both parties was held on the sidelines of the US – Africa Leaders Summit 2022.

The leaders explored possible areas of collaboration and partnership between Orion and the Kenyan government, including providing satellite-based solutions to agriculture, natural resources management and security, and establishing an equatorial spaceport with accompanying light space manufacturing capacity in Kenya. This collaborative effort towards improving Kenya’s space ecosystem was disclosed in a press release by the Kenya Space Agency.

The event had in attendance Brigadier Hillary Kipkosgey, the Acting Director General of the Kenya Space Agency, and executives from Orion Applied Science & Technology, Innocent Chesang and Rodney James.
