NASRDA Director Emphasises the Importance of PPP in Promoting National Development

The Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Halilu Ahmad Shaba, has called for more public-private partnerships for effective implementation of the Nigerian space programme, as well as to enhance the capabilities of the Space Agency in service delivery.

Dr. Shaba made this call during the signing of the memorandum of understanding between NASRDA and CIZOTI Nigeria Limited at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja. 

The NASRDA boss who described the agency’s partnership with CIZOTI Limited as welcoming, explained that the newly formed relationship will boost geospatial activities in the country, saying, there is a need for key stakeholders to collaborate effectively in order to produce positive results.

According to him, the Space Agency has not really done enough in education for children on space science programmes, assuring that the agency will leverage this relationship to provide a platform for the involvement of young people so as to garner interest in space science and technology.

The Group Managing Director of CIZOTI Nigeria Limited, Mrs. Edidiong Amos, expressed confidence in the current leadership of NASRDA and appreciated the warm reception accorded them by the Director General and the management team of the agency.

According to her, CIZOTI Nigeria Limited engages in mentorship programmes and capacity building in geospatial technology, and expressed enthusiasm that collaboration with the agency will be beneficial in enhancing and extending the scope of geospatial technology in Nigeria.

Mrs. Amos stated that CIZOTI Nigeria Limited is confident of actualizing the goals of the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding owing to the current efforts and determination of the space agency.

She maintained that her organisation will leave no stone unturned in implementing the partnership for the mutual benefits of both parties and for the betterment of the Nigerian populace.
