The Egyptian Space Agency received the Austrian mission in cooperation with the Austrian Space Forum with the aim of hosting a part of the Egyptian desert to simulate a space mission on the surface of Mars. This is due to the similar terrain and geology of some parts of the Egyptian desert and the surface of Mars. Austria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Austrian Space Youth Forum, sent the invitation to EgSA.

EgSA Chief, Al-Qousi expressed his happiness at the attendance of state bodies and institutions to discuss the preparation for simulating the space mission to explore space in Egypt’s desert enEgypt’snt. Nevertheless, the EgSA chief was represented by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and some auxiliary authorities for logistical arrangements. They discussed the expectations and necessary arrangements for the tasks’ completion. To this end, the parties expect the task to reach its completion by the middle of 2023.

It is worth noting that experts from the Austrian Space Forum held a workshop at the British University of Hartfordschild in Austria’s Administrative Capital. The workshop featured an awareness lecture for students and university professors regarding the simulation. Likewise, it discussed how to benefit from simulating space missions such as this.
