Namibia to host its first National GIS-NSDI Forum 2018
The Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) the coordinating Agency of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) in Namibia, together with Hatfield Consultants, a representative of DigitalGlobe will host the first National GIS-NSDI Forum 2018 in Windhoek from 26-27 July 2018. The theme of the forum is “unlocking the value of geospatial information in planning”. The main aim of the forum is to create national awareness of the value of geospatial information in national development planning and efforts made by the Namibian government to establish the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) as per the Statistics Act, No. 9 of 2011.
The forum will focus on how geospatial information can enable government and businesses to take better decisions and be more effective in their operations. Furthermore, the forum will deliberate on the establishment of a geo-information society for Namibia. The forum is targeting policy / decision makers, researchers, planners, local authority practitioners, GIS community, surveyors, environmentalists, engineers, geologists, senior students, etc.
