The CMR conducts research in the areas of comminution, classification, froth flotation and process mineralogy and has collaborations with academic institutions and industries around the world. We are currently looking for an MSc student to complete a project to identify potential ligands that would interact with platinum mineral surfaces in order to render them hydrophobic.

This is a Department of Science and Technology-funded project in collaboration with the computational modelling group at the University of Limpopo and with the Beijing General Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (BGRIMM) in China. The ideal candidate would have a strong chemistry background, an excellent academic record, a good work ethic, attention to detail and an interest in interactions at interfaces.
