Vodacom Lesotho has brought satellite broadband to the enterprise market in Lesotho, unveiling a fully managed connectivity solution built on Starlink’s low Earth orbit technology at a launch event held in Maseru. The offering targets organisations that need dependable internet access regardless of their location or the limitations of conventional ground-based infrastructure.

The product offers three core modes of delivery: a primary connectivity option that connects organisations in areas beyond the reach of terrestrial networks, a backup layer that provides additional resilience for those with existing connections, and an Unbreakable Internet model that combines satellite and terrestrial links to keep operations running during disruptions. The solution serves a range of sectors, including financial services, agriculture, health, logistics, education, tourism, and public administration.

What the Launch Means for Lesotho

Vodacom Lesotho CEO Mohale Ralebitso pointed to the country’s geography as the driving logic behind the product.

“Lesotho’s geography requires connectivity models that are practical, resilient and capable of reaching people and organisations wherever they live, work and deliver services,” he said.

Navindran Naidoo, who leads Non-Terrestrial Networks at Vodacom Group, said the partnership with Starlink allowed Vodacom to bring together global satellite capability and local delivery expertise.

“Through our work with Starlink, we are combining advanced satellite technology with Vodacom’s local support, installation expertise and managed-service capability to help organisations maintain continuity through disruption,” he said.

Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation, the Honourable Nthati Moorosi, placed the launch within Lesotho’s wider development ambitions. “This is a strategic contribution to Lesotho’s development agenda and a practical instrument in building a connected, resilient, productive and inclusive digital society,” she said.

Starlink’s Footprint in Lesotho Continues to Grow

Vodacom’s enterprise offering sits within a broader pattern of Starlink’s deepening presence in Lesotho. The Lesotho Communications Authority granted Starlink a 10-year operating licence in April 2025 following a year-long regulatory review, making it the country’s first satellite-based broadband provider. By June 2026, the service had already been deployed across 25 police stations, traffic management systems, and disaster response teams nationwide, an early signal of the role satellite connectivity was beginning to play in Lesotho’s public sector well ahead of the Vodacom enterprise launch.
