Roke Telkom and Paratus Uganda Launch Starlink for Business in Uganda
Roke Telkom and Paratus Uganda have officially launched Starlink for Business in Uganda, combining Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellite connectivity with local deployment, customer support, and business expertise from the two telecommunications providers.
The launch builds on Paratus Uganda’s position as the first provider in the country to offer Starlink services commercially, following the official signing of a memorandum of understanding and an operational licence agreement between the Uganda Communications Commission and Starlink in May 2026. Paratus Uganda was established through a joint venture between Paratus Group and Roke Telkom, making the two companies natural partners for the enterprise rollout.
What the Service Offers
The Starlink for Business service delivers download speeds of 40 to 220 Mbps and upload speeds of 8 to 25 Mbps, with priority data allocation and top network priority. Paratus Uganda offers three hardware options to suit different business needs: the Mini Kit for portable and mobile use, the Standard Kit for everyday business applications, and the Flat High Performance Kit for permanent installations requiring enhanced resilience in demanding environments.
Service plans are available on 24-month contracts across three data tiers: 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB. These include portability within Uganda as well as up to 60 consecutive days of international roaming in countries where Starlink is licensed. Professional installation, including power and data surge protection and mounting, is provided on a per-site basis, alongside 24/7 dedicated support through Paratus’s call centre and field technicians.
Bridging the Connectivity Gap for Ugandan Businesses
The partnership aims to provide businesses across Uganda with more connectivity options, particularly organisations operating in locations where conventional terrestrial infrastructure is limited or unreliable. Target sectors include mining, healthcare, energy, tourism, construction, and any operation requiring dependable connectivity beyond the reach of fixed or mobile networks.
For Roke Telkom and Paratus Uganda, the launch marks a concrete step in Uganda’s growing satellite connectivity ecosystem, which has expanded considerably since Starlink received its operational licence in the country earlier this year.
