Mauritania Opens Tender for Satellite Communications and Capacity Licences

The Regulatory Authority of Mauritania (ARE) has launched an international tender for the allocation of licences to provide mobile satellite communications services and/or satellite capacity sales, in accordance with current legislation and regulations.

The tender aims to award licences for the establishment and operation of satellite-based electronic communications services, divided into two distinct lots:

Lot 1: GMPCS Service Licences
Licences for the provision of Global Mobile Personal Communications by Satellite (GMPCS) electronic communications services, limited to satellite systems operated exclusively in geostationary orbit (GEO), intended for the direct provision of retail services to the public.

Lot 2: Satellite Capacity Sales Licences
Licences for the provision of satellite capacity sales services, consisting of making satellite capacity available to public or private operators or entities, without direct provision of retail electronic communications services to the public.

Key Dates and Timeline

  1. Tender Launch: 22 January 2026
  2. Deadline for Clarification Requests: 11 March 2026 at 17:00 (Nouakchott time)
  3. Submission Deadline: 2 April 2026 at 12:00 (Nouakchott time)

Interested companies are invited to collect the tender documentation from the Regulatory Authority upon payment of MRU 10,000 (USD 249.60)
