Quub, Inc has partnered with Solid State Propulsion (SSP) to integrate SSP’s state-of-the-art Pocket Rocket Vacuum Arc Thruster (VAT) into its satellite platforms. The SSP Pocket Rocket, a compact and reliable electric plasma thruster, offers unparalleled performance in a remarkably small package, making it ideal for Quub’s next-generation satellite missions.

Joe Latrell, CEO and Founder of Quub, Inc., said, “We are thrilled to partner with Solid State Propulsion to redefine earth observation.” SSP’s Vacuum Arc Thruster represents a leap forward in propulsion technology, and we are excited to incorporate it into our satellite platforms to enhance their maneuverability and operational capabilities.”

The thrusters will head to space later this year aboard Quub’s impressive Aurora satellites, scheduled to launch in October on a SpaceX Transporter mission.

The Vacuum Arc Thruster developed by SSP operates on the principle of pulsed electric arcs between two electrodes, generating high-velocity plasma to propel satellites with precision and efficiency. Its solid-state design eliminates the need for traditional propellant systems, ensures reliability, and reduces the risk of mechanical failures during mission operations, providing reassurance about its performance.

Paul Stansell, CEO of Solid State Propulsion, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Collaborating with Quub allows us to demonstrate the full potential of our thruster in real-world satellite missions. Together, we aim to push the boundaries of propulsion technology and unlock new opportunities for space exploration and satellite applications.”

The partnership between Quub and SSP represents a significant step forward in commercialising advanced space propulsion systems. SSP’s innovative thruster technology and Quub’s expertise in satellite design and deployment will revolutionise space travel and satellite operations, sparking excitement about the potential of this collaboration
