Starlink Emerges as Nigeria’s Third-largest Internet Service Operator in Q4 2023

According to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Starlink Services, LLC, emerged as Nigeria’s third-largest Internet Service Provider (ISP) by subscriber count in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2023. The satellite internet company recorded an impressive 23,897 active subscribers, cementing its status as a key player in the country’s ISP market. This represents a remarkable 113% increase from the 11,207 customers reported in Q3 2023.

Despite Starlink’s rapid growth, Spectranet remains the market leader with 113,869 active customers, followed by FiberOne with 27,000 subscribers. Starlink’s approval in 2022 to provide high-speed, low-latency broadband in Nigeria, along with a recent 45% price reduction on its hardware kit—now priced at ₦440,000, down from ₦800,000, has positioned it as a growing competitive alternative in the Nigerian ISP landscape. This growth trajectory highlights the increasing demand for reliable internet services in Nigeria and underscores the significant impact Starlink is making in the market.
