8th National Conference of the Astronomical Society of Nigeria – Nov 21-24
The Astronomical Society of Nigeria (ASN) is an umbrella body of professional Nigerians who are actively involved in teaching and research in astronomy, space science and other related disciplines in universities, other tertiary institutions and research centres in Nigeria. A key objective of ASN is to encourage and promote effective astronomy and space science education and research in Nigeria through public mobilization and enlightenment. The society also seeks to explore possible collaborations with governmental, inter-governmental and non-governmental agencies aimed at providing world-class research and education facilities in Nigeria.
The 8th National Conference of the Society scheduled to hold between 21 and 24 November, 2018 at Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State with the theme; Five Decades of Astronomy and Space Science in Nigeria: Successes, Challenges and Prospects.
ASN works to increase understanding and appreciation of astronomy by uniting the interests and expertise of astronomers, educators, and astronomy enthusiasts, providing resources and tools to assist educators at all levels, recognizing and honouring extraordinary contributions to astronomy and astronomy education, disseminating the results of astronomical research to the astronomical community and by communicating the excitement of astronomy to educators and the general public.
