Spacecom, a global fixed-satellite operator, has announced that it has signed a USD 3.8 million agreement with a government client in Africa to provide satellite communication services. Spacecom’s AMOS-17 satellite would provide these services for 12 months. The AMOS-17 satellite is a multi-band high-throughput satellite (HTS) that provides satellite communication solutions to 49 African countries, the Middle East, Asia and Europe.

The agreement represents a significant milestone in broadening Spacecom’s footprint across Africa and enhancing its global reputation in the satellite services industry. Furthermore, the deal is expected to increase revenue growth and solidify the company’s standing as a dependable provider of government communication solutions. Moreover, Spacecom is committed to delivering seamless, high-quality services via the AMOS-17 satellite, underscoring its dedication to a reliable partnership with its African government client.

AMOS-17’s Footprint in Africa

Since its launch in 2019, Spacecom’s AMOS-17 satellite has expanded its footprint across Africa through various programmes and initiatives. In 2021, Spacecom announced that the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation’s DTT(Digital Terrestrial TV) migrated to start broadcasting through the AMOS-17 high throughput Satellite (HTS) services. The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) is a government-owned and-run media company that provides terrestrial and radio broadcast services to Kenya, reflecting Spacecom’s strategic partnerships with government clients.

Additionally, AMOS-17 services enable e-learning services and internet connectivity solutions for schools in Nigeria, expanding its impact in bridging the digital divide. Announced in 2021, Spacecom partnered with Zinox Technologies through a multi-year contract to afford kids in Nigeria access to quality education through ATMOS-17’s C-band frequency. Its services have also featured partnerships with a client from Angola, pan-African telecommunications service provider Paratus and the Senegal Post Authority.

AMOS-17 has proven to be a crucial provider of satellite communications services across Africa, and its latest announcement of a partnership underscores Spacecom’s commitment to utilise AMOS-17’s advanced capabilities for connectivity solutions in Africa.
