NIGCOMSAT Visits China Association of Science and Technology
During their visit to the People’s Republic of China, representatives of the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Limited, led by Managing Director Engr. Tukur Mohammed Lawal met with the Vice President of the China Association of Science and Technology (CAST), Mr Li Jun. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the existing relationship between the two organisations and explore opportunities for further collaboration in satellite communication technology.
CAST has previously played a crucial role in constructing Nigeria’s first communication satellite, the NigComSat-1, which unfortunately deorbited, and its replacement, the NigComSat-1R, which was successfully launched in December 2011.
Building upon their past collaboration, the meeting provided a platform to discuss potential joint research and development projects and capacity building in relevant fields.
Furthermore, NIGCOMSAT Limited had expressed its aspirations to expand its satellite fleet and services, so the meeting provided an avenue to explore joint research and development projects and share knowledge and transfer technology in satellite communication technology.
At the end of their visit, representatives of NIGCOMSAT Limited were given a comprehensive tour of CAST’s offices, providing a firsthand look at the cutting-edge products developed by CAST, including new satellite systems, advanced communication technologies, and other innovative satellite applications.
