Arizona State University (ASU) has joined the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) as a sponsor for the 4^th Africa Space Generation Workshop. The workshop is to be held in 2021.

Following a successful third African Space Generation Workshop (AF-SGW) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, SGAC in support of the United Nations Programme on Space Applications, announced the regional event in Accra, Ghana to be held from 25 February to 26 February 2021. The theme for the AF-SGW is: “A United Africa for Space Innovation: A Step Towards Our Common Future.”

Towards gathering support for the event, SGAC has been calling for sponsors and donations for the event across the world. In a memo shared with Space in Africa, SGAC mentions that “the organizing team of the 4^th Africa Space Generation Workshop 2021, a Space Generation Advisory Council Regional event, welcomes Arizona State University our Platinum sponsors to our event. We appreciate their commitment in ensuring the future of Africa’s space industry”.

SGAC is however still looking for more sponsorship for the program, while also asking for more donations.

The two-day regional workshop will bring together university students, young professionals, and industry representatives to examine, consider, and collaborate on interdisciplinary perspectives regarding space and scientific matters in the African region. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with experts from academia, business, and space agencies through plenary and panel sessions and working group discussions.

SGAC is a non-profit organization and professional network that represents university students and young professionals in the space sector. The organization has permanent observer status on the United Nations Committee On the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) and is a member of the UN Economic and Social Council and International Astronautical Federation (IAF).
